I was just on the phone with a photographer in New York, New York named Paul something snooty and vaguely French for a last name. I'm going to derail my train of thought for a moment just to rant about how many people I know named Paul and Becca. This Paul is probably the third Paul I've met in two years, but in the same amount of time I have met six people named Becca. I imagine their parents either being devoted fans of the Beatles or Rebecca De Mornay because I have to apply some sort insane explanation to these sort of things. Okay, back to the photographer thing...
Paul brought up this fantastic idea after reading my "About the Author" biography, which I have not read because I haven't received a copy. His idea was to have me pose in front of towering stacks of comic book long boxes. When I first heard I was probably going to New York for a photo shoot I thought to myself, "Oh great. They'll probably have me pose in front of some gradient background with my fist under my chin like in grade school. I never suspected they would actually hire someone creative enough to come up with a fantastic idea like that.
That's the most realistic way of telling the world I am a nerd. The only way I could top that is to construct a giant neon sign that says, "NERD" with a flashing arrow pointing at me and while that may be realistic, I just wouldn't have the patience to take it with me everywhere I go.

I'm not dead, I just vastly prefer Facebook or chatting on IM's these days since I am so busy.
The big news is that sometime between now and June I could become an author. I've signed a contract with a publisher, completed a book, and I'm starting to write my second. I really hope this happens because making a living as a writer would be a dream come true.

I haven't updated in a while because I've been super busy, but if you'd like to see what I do on a day-to-day basis I tend to keep my Facebook well updated on my shenanigans from my cell phone.

New York Comic Con didn't seem like a very big deal. I don't think anything new or exciting came out of it. But I am excited about all of the new action figures coming out. The new Brave and the Bold Minis line of figures are so damned cute, they just might give me diabetes. I can't really say I'm excited about the new wave of DC Universe Classics that was announced, because there are only two figures I want out of the bunch. It seemed really strange that there is such a plethora of new Ghostbusters stuff coming out.
Now I'm extremely pumped for MegaCon. It's going to be a fun and relaxing weekend. I need to look through and organize my comics so that I know what to look for at the convention.

Oh my Rao, I am still feeling the effects of a "Cosmopolitan" cocktail that
privytodoom ordered earlier for dinner at Chili's. She didn't like it because it was poorly made and mostly alcohol, so I finished it off. I had two tequila cocktails prior to that, which were strong, but still tasty. Then to wash out the taste of battery acid in my mouth I finished the drink
lycaonvulpes ordered, which was called "Miami Vice" and was awesome. During the car ride home I ranted about Aquaman and I called the modern age version of him a "whiny emo crybaby bitch," which amused Gatsby greatly.
Tall men who have had a few drinks are not the most graceful of creatures when exiting a tiny foreign car.
Before all of that, however, we ventured to Emerald City Comics in two locations. While I was pleased with their selection of merchandise, I felt most of it was a bit overpriced. Some action figures were almost double their retail price, which was a shame because they had some that I want. It is probably for the best since that means I will have more money for MegaCon.
In between those two stores we took a brief side tour to a puppy store where they had the most adorable dachshund mix with a cute little racing stripe down the center. He was adorable because he was so playful and happy. I wanted to take him home so badly.
Right now I am lounging in my apartment, wearing some damned warm and comfortable pajamas my mother got for me. She is coming to visit me with my little brother soon and I am looking forward to seeing them.

I like my new journal title. What do you think?
Over the weekend I baked a s'more cheesecake from a recipe of my own creation, which I sold for quite a bit of money recently. I use to get paid infrequently whenever they used it, but I guess someone noticed that I was getting too good a deal out of that agreement and decided they should just buy the damned thing instead. Oh well, I can still bake the cheesecakes for myself and others. I hope it turned out okay, this is the first time I have baked with an electric oven. Outwardly it appeared to be normal.
I need to put my long boxes together and organize my comic books tomorrow. Then I can start checking off issues on my list.
Almost forgot, I am fully caught up on Batman: The Brave and the Bold. It is officially my new favorite television show. The Aquaman episode is especially amazing. I cannot believe how often they manage to capture everything great about the characters they spotlight every week. They had the honor of creating the first ever animated appearance of Ted Kord and they captured everything about his character so perfectly.
privytodoom was especially pleased because she is the world's biggest Ted Kord fangirl. She has more Ted Kord stuff then I knew existed, and we've even had to resort to creating Ted Kord stuff just for her in a futile attempt to satiate her desire for more Ted Kord stuff.
Also, the episode that featued B'wana Beast in the opening was amazing. I get razzed a lot for loving B'wana Beast because he is so obscure and his powers are so weird, but that is exactly what I love about him. Although, I find it odd that almost exactly after I discovered him he appeared in an episode of Justice League Unlimited and then The Brave and the Bold. Not that I'm complaining, I hope he gets a whole episode in the second season of the Brave and the Bold.

WHY?! Ugh... guess I'm going to request a new one or a possible relocation tomorrow when I renew my lease.
Also, I am starting to feel better. I got comic books today, more Superman action figures, and enacted my revenge upon
privytodoom , so all is right somewhat. She gave me a John Barrowman Christmas album for Christmas, so I got her a neon pink Punisher skull t-shirt.
I have no idea what I am doing this weekend as I have no plans, so I will likely end up baking and watching DVDs. Oh well.
Wish me luck on eventually finding a roommate that does not suck!

For those unfortunate souls who do not know about My Bloody Valentine 3D, allow me to inform you. All one need to know about this magnificent piece of cinema is that it is an 80's style horror movie... in 3D! Use your imagination to fill in the gaps. I saw it last night and now I wish 3D Horror was a separate genre.

I was bored and researching the 20 July plot to kill Hitler conspired by Claus Philipp Maria Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg and his band of merry Nazis who were displeased with the regime. Whilst reading theories on alternate scenarios in which Hitler most certainly would have been killed, I found a picture of a random Nazi soldier holding up the shredded trousers Adolf was wearing when the bomb went off.

Yesterday I had lunch and an adventure with the Gatsby. We went to the comic shop because I think she had not been there to pick up her books since early December or late November. As per usual with any adventure I made my fair share of jokes. After the comic shop we got food at Ruby Tuesdays and I was nice this time, I did not mess with the waiter. Then we walked briefly through the mall and searched for that special book Gatsby has been looking for and toy hunted through the Toys R' Us, where she caved and purchased some tiny Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures she had been dreaming about for days.
When I got home I prepped some pork for today. I'm going to cook some linguine with pesto sauce and pan seared pork chops with fresh ground pepper. Tomorrow I want to cook something with tomatoes and basil, perhaps some risotto.
I hope I get my check tomorrow because I've skipped by a few action figures I really want. Skipping by awesome toys hurts my soul.
Lately I've been craving for some nostalgia. I don't really have any childhood TV shows on DVD, which is a shame so I'm going to try my best to remedy this situation. When I think about nostalgic shows Thundercats, Voltron, Silverhawks, Quantum Leap, and Fraggle Rock come to mind. I miss those shows.

I am running out of space on my shelf where I keep my action figures. This means I must find a solution next week when I get my loan.
Yesterday I went to a "poetry jam" with
lycaonvulpes at the Beef O'Brady's on campus. I used quotation marks because it was essentially a couple of wanna be rappers yelling gibberish in order to talk over the crowd, but there was one guy who decided to warm up the crowd with Shakespeare just before regaling us with his poem about baseball. Good Rao, it was horrible, but we were entertained nonetheless, got some boba tea afterward, and then watched some of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DVDs I gave her for Christmas.
Oh, I almost forgot! There was a bible toting crazy man on campus yesterday morning telling everyone they were going to hell. Apparently he frequently visits east coast universities and attempts to anger students so that he can sue them when they assault him. He calls himself Brother Micha and for some reason my purple outfit caught his eye because he confronted me with these words, "You! Young men don't wear purple! Homo queercicles wear purple! You! Are! A! Sinner!" to which I responded, "You are adorable, who let you out?" He then went on to accuse various female students of being whores and pretty much everyone was a "Obama voting masturbater."

Yesterday I went on an adventure with the great Gatsby. She bought a present for a friend at Borders, I forgot what it was, but originally she was looking for a book that is a collection of photographs with men covered in cum. I was as speechless as you surely are, but damn it all if I didn't help look for it. We searched two Borders locations for it, but it was all for not. I think she settled for some random Green Lantern trade paperback and a pink Domo Kun plush. Then we went searching for a tea lounge that sells boba tea. This was my first experience with boba tea and I liked it, but I will not get the flavored variety again because it was too sweet. The store tea lounge Gatsby originally wanted to go to is inexplicably closed on Tuesdays.
After that adventure I made some pot stickers for dinner. They were quite tastey. Then I went about putting the Batman Lego set I got for Christmas together. It was very easy to assemble and the Penguin submarine amuses me profoundly. I shot myself in the eye with it's missile and that sent me spiraling into a giggle fit. The little penguin minions packing revolvers are adorable.
I also went action figure hunting and snagged the Superman variant from DC Universe Classics wave six. It is kind of strange that this version is the variant. It is 90's Superman with the normal costume, but with long hair that is often mistaken for a mullet. The normal version of the figure has his black and silver restoration suit. I also grabbed Mr. Miracle and Captain Marvel for Gatsby and Dickens, which eventually ended in a trade because later in the evening they randomly appeared to give me Hawkman and Killer Moth. Killer Moth is probably my favorite figure out the three I got yesterday, because he is just ridiculous. I can't even describe his costume.
( The glorious Killer Moth! )
